As fans, we can support Bogum in many ways: some will need time, some will need money… but it will all need love!
In addition to following his Twitter account ( his only social media so far ) to keep up with his news, and giving attention to his new works -there are lots of ways to do even more.
This is for fans new to the fangirling game, because one year ago, as a noona fan I was really lost as to how to do things right.
If you are a seasoned fangirl, feel free to comment and share more fun ways below ♥
As international fans, the language barrier can sometimes be a big problem to how we can support his activities in Korea.
But fret not, there are ways to achieve it!
Here are some different ways you can join in the support, so do check back here often and even a share on a facebook page or a Twitter RT about the ongoing event will help!
HERE’S HOW TO FANGIRL LIKE YOU MEAN IT
GETTING A NAVER ACCOUNT
Naver (Hangul: 네이버) is a popular Web portal in South Korea.
It has news articles, videos that we can help to trend.
CARING ABOUT RATINGS
What are these numbers and why should we care?
Joining SNS and help with the hype.
VOTING FOR ONLINE POLLS
Head over here for the latest Polls that got our attention.
VOTING FOR POPULARITY AWARDS
Baeksang, Asian Artist Awards create Popularity Awards for fans to participate and vote for the stars they like.
Some need credits by playing time wasting games, others allow direct credit to be charged.
FAN SUPPORT PROJECTS
Fund raising to celebrate events to give cheer using Rice wreaths Displays, sending Food Trucks to the Drama sets or Fan Meeting Projects all need money. Be careful and only contribute to those you can trust.
BUYING BOGUM GOODS
Bogum does endorse some expensive items. But there are always different items that all of us can afford to buy.
Just exercise self control and don’t let it get out of control heehee
The stress is real.
We seem to be as worried as the executives at the Broadcast Stations, anxious over dips and getting excited when ratings climb higher.
We can’t really affect the Korean ratings since the sample groups are in fact, in Korea.
How are these magic numbers calculated? Read the Soompi article here.
A good drama may not always become a ratings giant. However ratings are important since they end up being the ‘bankability’ of an actor, especially if one is just starting to become popular.
Talking about the drama, generating healthy discussions, that helps with fun drama viewing for everybody.
Also, once the dramas come to our own countries, doing the same to promote it to our friends and families will help with positive word of mouth. Check out the current Ratings Watch our Philippines fans have ongoing as Moonlight has just started to air in their country last week.
When an actor is deemed as being popular, organisors will be more likely to invite them over for fanmeets, and that is how we will get to meet Bogummy! [ Yes I can attest that he is really adorable in person and I hope he will be abel to come annually.
Here is a post about the Moonlight Korea Ratings.
Some “Best 1 minute” news headlines that help to generate buzz about dramas.
If we want to help get Bogum or his dramas trending, one of the ways is to head over to Social Media, like Twitter or Instagram.
Use key hashtags for example:
English: #ParkBogum #LoveIntheMoonlight #MoonlightDrawnByClouds #LITM
Korean: #박보검 #구르미그린달빛
Mandarin: #朴宝剑 #云画的月光
Japanese: #パクボゴム #雲が描いた月明かり
Sure, some are silly, but there are some that are meaningful, especially if it means giving Bogum more exposure in new markets.
Take the latest poll being done by Hanryu Pia, a Japan magazine site that actually will last for 3 months.
Being the top 3 of such a poll will mean that more Japanese fans will take notice of this rising new star, and this will offer him better opportunities – be it collaborative work, or new endorsements.
Hop over here to vote too!
Rice Wreaths? Coffee Trucks? Food Support?
These type of support require coordination and help from the official Korean fanclub Bogum Ministry, because such activities have to be approved by Blossom – Bogum’s agency. Usually it is conducted via each country’s fanclub reps, who will collect funds to either do the support as a collaborative effort, or individually by club.
Here is one example of the gifting of rice wreath that was done under Global Bogum Love last year for Bogum’s Gurumi Press con.
BUYING BOGUM ENDORSED/RELATED ITEMS
Spending money on his endorsed products tells sponsors that – yes, they have hired the right guy for the job.
Needless to say, this raises Bogum’s profile and other bigger, better endorsers will be attracted and this will translate into direct earnings for him. The better off financially he is, the better projects he will be able to take on. He will have the luxury of not having to take on roles just to pay the bills and can afford to wait for the right scripts to come along.
Buying magazines with his photos or interviews will let the publishers know who can sell their product, and so more Titles will approach him for interviews or photoshoots. He will also be seen by their readership and more people will get to know him.
All the activities should be done in moderation and only in your precious free time.
NO real life relationships should suffer or be strained due to fangirl activities.
As our dear Bogummy has set a great example to follow: students should prioritize your studies.
Eg Vote or Study for Exams? STUDY!
Sleep or Vote? Sle..-Vote!…er…Slee…
Thanks to all my friends who taught me the precious ways to fangirling, I learnt so much from you all in this past year.
I shall fangirl well…
